I was inspired by short videos of paper-doll animations I watched recently.
(not 100% sure if they used paper doll for this one, but I enjoy the character designs and atmosphere)
But I thought that these are too complicated to accomplish in 5 weeks.
And I found this animation, which I liked much yet seemed less painful.
I liked how simple collections of black Shillouettes of characters move, while the simply colored background gives the sense of time and atmosphere.
I thought it is good idea to make a stop-motion paper-animation because the less digital we go, the more we could collaborate. I like designing characters and environments. Therefore if this proposal chosen, I look forward to work on shapes of characters or the background as an Art director. The story is going to be based on can give learning and lessons. A tweaked version of Aesop's fables or a short story from Talmud would be a great choice considering the amount of time we have.
I did a very rough sketch of how I would want the characters and background to feel like.
I enjoy the example you gave, of simple figures in a colorful background, I think its a cool way to incorporate multiple majors. It would be a fun team to be on, especially in making the documentary, expanding and showing how many people it takes to create a seemingly simple outcome.
ReplyDeleteI think this would be a good project to be part of. The reason is that I do cinematic arts, which means I could be in charge of the video or editing section of the project. Either will work for me.
ReplyDeletei like this idea a lot. i think with all of the different majors this project could be pooled into something quite original.
ReplyDeleteI love the style of these examples you gave, and also the quick sketches you came up with yourself! It reminds me of the rad credits on "A Series of Unfortunate Events." I think the end product could be very engaging and dynamic for viewers too. Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very nice way to incorporate all of the majors in one project and love how you thought of a back-up plan for fashion majors. It's a little out of my element, but would be fun dipping into something different than just usual illustration. Can't wait to see if this project is chosen.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to partake in a project like the one you are proposing. Do not be afraid of it being a short animation with the amount of time and with the amount of experience we have in animation. I would love to document the process of this project and show people the behind the scenes!
ReplyDeleteAh this looks really cool. The creepy and eerie style is awesome. The music would be fun to make and the movement of the creatures/characters is what i would be looking forward to do.
